Maintenance, which used to be known as alimony, is an important divorce-related issue because it affects both parties. It is generally tax deductible by the paying spouse and taxable income to the receiving spouse. In the state of Missouri, the courts consider many factors when determining spousal support.  Those factors may be found at 452.335 Revised Statutes of Missouri.  The include the following:
