Drivers License Consequences for DWI/DUI

When a person is cited for DWI, there are both criminal and civil cases charged. The criminal case is prosecuted in one court and may have consequences that include probation and even jail time. The civil case is prosecuted in an entirely different court and has consequences affecting your driving privileges. Please contact an attorney at The Roberts Law Firm immediately so that we may discuss all legal rights and consequences of the DWI.

Driving in the State of Missouri is a privilege, it is not a right. The Department of Revenue may suspend or revoke your driver's license for many different things. One of the most commons reasons a person's driver's license is suspended or revoked is because that person was cited for Driving While Intoxicated or Driving Under the Influence.

If you are suspected of Driving While Intoxicated, and agree to take a chemical test of your breath, blood or urine and your blood alcohol level is 0.08 or greater, the Missouri Department of Revenue will take steps to suspend or revoke your license. The duration of the suspension or revocation depends on several factors. Please contact The Roberts Law Firm immediately so we may discuss the legal consequences as they affect you.

You are not obligated to take a test of your breath, blood or urine. They are designed to gather evidence against you that will be used to prosecute you in a Court of law. You are within your legal rights to refuse these tests. IF YOU CHOSE NOT TO TAKE THE BREATH TEST AT THE POLICE STATION, OR PROVIDE SAMPLES OF YOUR BLOOD AND/OR URINE, THERE MAY BE CONSEQUENCES THAT AFFECT YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE. PLEASE CONTACT AN ATTORNEY AT THE ROBERTS LAW FIRM IMMEDIATELY TO DISCUSS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.

When a person is cited for DWI/DUI, whether or not they took the breath, blood or urine tests, it is important to act quickly. FAILURE TO ACT WITHIN 15 DAYS, MAY RESULT IN THE SUSPENSION OR REVOCATION OF YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE. PLEASE CONTACT AN ATTORNEY AT THE ROBERTS LAW FIRM IMMEDIATELY TO DISCUSS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.
